About Us
The Yellow Book is an independent, alternative bar and venue in central Brighton.
In our downstairs bar, you'll find free live music, DJ nights, acoustic session and themed events alongside a selection of draught beers and lagers, cider, wines and spirits plus a rotating selection of craft beers from small, local indie breweries in and around Sussex. Our seasonal cocktail menu is compiled by an award-winning mixologist and is created with our vegan and gluten-free customers in mind. Follow us on social media to be the first to hear about our quirky specials offering a taste of the unusual, like authentic mead and absinthe.

Upstairs, our fringe theatre space is home to the internationally-acclaimed Sweet Venues. Enjoy a year-round programme of creativity and exploration, with curated performances of immersive theatre, music comedy, open mic and drama.

The Yellow Book supports local artists with commission-free gallery space on the north wall of our bar — previous exhibitors include Jessica C Sheehan, Simon Lea Wright and Axel Toth. We also host the Night Market every other month and a quarterly pop-up vintage market.

Located at the bottom of Brighton's North Laines, we are just a few minutes' walk from Brighton Station. Exit out of the train station onto the front concourse and make your way down Trafalgar Street, the road that goes downhill beneath the station. Turn left at the bottom of Trafalgar Street and there we are on York Place, facing onto St Peter's Church.
